About
I am a 27-year-old artist based in Camberwell, London, who has recently completed MA Fine Art Printmaking at Camberwell college of arts, part of the University of the Arts London. Previously, I completed BA History of Art at UCL, London.
My practice centres around the fundamental dialogue between line, form and colour and echoes the variety of interpretations I produce from my surrounding environment. I balance the different vibrations and tensions between these three elements to produce a harmonious image.
From the colour combinations of the physical environment to my thoughts and feelings when producing the work, there is no prescribed, set way I construct my work, and it can take any form, there are no restrictions.
I work intuitively with line, form and colour, allowing my visual influences in my conscious and subconscious mind to affect my aesthetic choices and the work I produce.
During my undergraduate degree I was able to explore my interest in medieval illuminated manuscripts, which I continued exploring in my research during my master’s degree. Medieval illuminated manuscripts provided an important reference to centre my research on. I was unable to understand the text, and this formed a different style of reading. I focussed on the bold use of colour, abstract forms and definitive line and they served as a useful contextual reference for my work and practice, even now that I have completed the MA. This research prompted the creation of my own language of abstract forms.
